01Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how IFO4 Inc., a Delaware non-profit corporation (IFO4, we, or us), uses cookies and similar tracking technologies across the IFO4 Services, including ifo4.org, unum.ifo4.org (the UNUM cost calculator), IFO4 Social and the IFO4 Community, the IFO4 Learn and Certification platforms, and any other website, application, or service that links to or incorporates this Cookie Policy (collectively, the Services).
This Cookie Policy is part of, and should be read together with, the IFO4 Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
03Categories of Cookies We Use
- Strictly Necessary. Required to run the site, authenticate you, protect against fraud, and remember your session. Cannot be disabled.
- Exam Integrity. Used only on the Certification Portal during active exam sessions to maintain session integrity and detect behavioral anomalies. No biometric data is stored.
- Functional. Remember your preferences (theme, language, sidebar state) across visits.
- Analytics (Privacy-Preserving). Aggregated usage data to improve the Services. No cross-site tracking. No advertising identifiers.
- AI Personalization. Remember your recent Copilot queries and score context so answers stay relevant. Off by default outside product surfaces.
- Marketing and Attribution. Only on ifo4.org marketing pages. First-party and aggregated. No third-party advertising cookies.
05Legal Bases and U.S. Privacy Law Treatment
Strictly Necessary and Exam Integrity cookies are loaded on the lawful basis of operating the Service you requested. Functional, Analytics, AI Personalization, and Marketing cookies are loaded only with your consent (U.S. states that require opt-in) or as disclosed with a clear opt-out mechanism (U.S. states that permit opt-out).
IFO4 does not engage in the sale of personal information and does not conduct cross-context behavioral advertising. Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals are honored automatically as binding opt-outs.
06Your Choices and Controls
6.2 Global Privacy Control (GPC)
When your browser transmits a Global Privacy Control signal, IFO4 treats it as a binding opt-out from any sale or cross-context behavioral advertising (even though IFO4 does not engage in those activities) and as a default opt-out from non-essential cookies that require consent. You do not need to take any additional action.
6.3 California "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information"
California residents may use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the ifo4.org footer to submit a request. IFO4 will process the request within fifteen (15) business days.
6.4 Sensitive Personal Information (CPRA)
California residents may use the Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information link in the ifo4.org footer. IFO4 does not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger the right to limit, but honors requests submitted through this channel.
6.5 Browser Controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect functionality. Guidance for the major browsers:
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies and other site data.
- Safari: Preferences, then Privacy.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security.
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
- Mobile (iOS or Android): device-level Settings, then browser app.
6.6 Do Not Track (DNT)
Because there is no consistent industry standard for Do Not Track (DNT) signals, IFO4 does not respond to DNT browser headers. IFO4 honors GPC, the CCPA/CPRA opt-out links above, and the Cookie Preferences Center selections. This is an evolving area and IFO4 will update its practice if a binding standard emerges.
07Consent Lifecycle
IFO4 records your consent choices with a timestamp and version reference. Persistent consents are re-prompted at least once every twelve (12) months and after any material change to this Cookie Policy. You can change or withdraw consent at any time through the Cookie Preferences Center; the change takes effect on your next page load.
08Children
The Services are intended exclusively for professionals aged eighteen (18) or older. IFO4 does not knowingly deploy cookies to anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has accessed the Services, contact privacy@ifo4.org immediately.
09Changes to This Cookie Policy
IFO4 may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our technologies, the law, or our practices. Material changes will be communicated through an in-platform notification and by updating the “Effective” date above. For persistent consents, IFO4 will re-prompt you to confirm your preferences after a material change.
